Arshdeep Singh reveals reason behind recent performances –
Young Indian pace bowler Arshdeep Singh has spoken about the change in mindset in recent weeks. The 24-year-old was in conversation with the media before the final game in Bengaluru.
“Mindset as a team doesn’t work on what the series scoreline and what happened in the last matches. The main motive is to get used to the ground and adapt quickly. We can look at improving and developing match skills,”
Despite having a difficult start to his India career, Arshdeep has risen in the ranks. His recent exploits with the ball have seen him become a huge member of Rohit Sharma’s plans. The youngster has attributed this change to his consistent run with the Indian side.
“The last 12 months have been a mixed bag (of experience). There were a few good performances and I got to learn something new. There were a few ups and downs as well, making my performances neutral”
India has always looked for a left-arm seamer since the retirement of Zaheer Khan. With Arshdeep stepping up, the search seems to have ended. The 24-year-old attributed his Specifically, I recently started (bowling) with a new ball, especially on slow wickets. In the last match, I tried a few variations, especially against left-handers, and it worked and it gave me some confidence. Otherwise, I am trying to sharpen my skills,”
Finally ending his chat with the media Arshdeep Singh said “Players’ roles are defined. As a bowler, you know, you have to bowl at the start and middle overs. When there is clarity, you come up with good performances,”
