Team India clinched the two-match Test series by 1-0 margin as the second and final Test of the series was washed out due to rain on Monday, July 24 which was played at Queen’s Park Oval, Port of Spain, in Trinidad. Star India bowler, Mohammad Siraj was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant spell in the first innings where he snapped five wickets in his spell of 23.4 overs where he conceded 60 runs and bowled six maiden overs.

If we talk about the match, day five of the Test match was called off without a single ball being bowled. Before the play was stopped, the hosts had scored 76 runs for the loss of two wickets. The Windies needed 289 runs to level the series while on the other hand, Men in Blue needed eight wickets to clean sweep the Test series.

Ishan Kishan scores maiden Test fifty

Earlier in the match, the visitors while batting first scored a total of 489 runs before being bundled out in the 128th over. The highest scorer for the side was Virat Kohli, who scored 121 runs off 206 balls with 11 fours in his innings. Other notable half-century scorers were Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. The pick of the bowlers for the Carribean was Kemar Roach and Jomel Warrican who grabbed three wickets each in their respective spells while conceding 104 runs and 89 runs in 22 overs and 39 overs respectively.

In reply to India’s 489 runs, West Indies were bowled out for 255 runs. They played a total of 115.4 overs in their innings. The highest scorer for their side was their skipper, Kraig Braithwaite who scored 75 runs off 235 balls which included five fours and a six in his innings. Except for Siraj, two wickets each were bagged by Mukesh Kumar and Ravindra Jadeja, and one wicket was taken by Ravichandran Ashwin.

India declared their second innings after scoring 181 runs for the loss of two wickets. Quick half-centuries were scored by Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan. Rohit scored 57 runs off 44 balls with five fours and three sixes whereas Kishan smashed unbeaten 52 runs from 34 balls which included four fours and two sixes in his innings.
