‘Babar can do wonders for himself and the team’ – Shoaib Malik suggested Babar Azam to leave captaincy

Pakistan cricket team’s captain Babar Azam has recently faced a lot of backlash from multiple cricket experts and Pakistan fans over the team’s ordinary performance against archrivals India in the ODI World Cup 2023. Babar Azam scored a half century in the game against India but unfortunately could not lead the team towards victory.

Pakistan’s former cricketer Shoaib Malik believes Babar Azam can do wonders as a player for Pakistan but is not a good leader as he does not think out of the box. Shoaib Malik believes Babar Azam should leave captaincy and concentrate on his game.

Shoaib Malik on Babar Azam captaincy skills

“Look, I will give you my honest opinion on this. I have already said this in previous interviews that Babar should leave captaincy, it is just my opinion but there’s a lot of homework behind it. Babar, as a player, can do wonders for himself as well as the team,” said Shoaib Malik in a recent interview.

“I think that Babar, as a leader, doesn’t think out of the box. One shouldn’t mix his leadership with his batting skills as they both are different. He has been a captain for a long time now, but he hasn’t been able to improve himself,” added Shoaib Malik.

After being defeated by the Indian cricket team in the World Cup once again, Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam said, “We started well. Good partnership between me and Imam. We wanted to play normal cricket (me and Rizwan). Suddenly we had a collapse and didn’t finish well. The way we started, wanted to target 280-290. With the new ball we are not upto the mark. The way Rohit is playing – he played an outstanding innings.”
