‘Badiya suggestion hai’ – Fans react as Wasim Akram asks Pakistan team to lock England team in dressing room to qualify for semi-finals of ODI World Cup 2023

‘Badiya suggestion hai’ – Fans react as Wasim Akram asks Pakistan team to lock England team in dressing room to qualify for semi-finals of ODI World Cup 2023

Pakistan is all set to play their last league match of the ODI World Cup 2023 against England on 11 November at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. The 44th match of the ODI World Cup 2023 between Pakistan and England will be a do-or-die match for Pakistan to qualify for the ODI World Cup 2023 semi-final.

However, the chances of qualification for Pakistan seem quite bleak as New Zealand has already registered 10 points on the points table with a higher net run rate. Pakistan’s former cricketer Wasim Akram recently gave a hilarious suggestion to Pakistan highlighting the only chances for the team to qualify.

While joking about the next-to-impossible ODI World Cup 2023 semi-finals qualification scenario for Pakistan, Wasim Akram said, “Make whatever score that is possible and then go and lock the dressing room of the England team for 20 minutes so that all their batters get timed out.”

“Wasim bhai gave the idea that Pakistan should bat first, then lock England up in their dressing room and get them timed out in 20 minutes to win the match,” said the host during a programme at the A Sports News Channel.

ODI World Cup 2023 Semi-finals Qualifications Scenario for Pakistan

If Pakistan gets to bat first, they need to score 300 or more and they need to restrict England to a score of just 13. Pakistan need to maintain a margin of a minimum of 287 runs if they score more than 300 runs in Kolkata in their last match of the league stage to qualify for the semi-finals of the ODI World Cup 2023.

On the other hand, if Pakistan gets to bowl first in the innings their chances seem next to impossible and negligible. Even if Pakistan bowls out England for 100 runs, they need to chase down the target within 2.3 overs, to win with around 285 balls to spare.
