The four-time champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are all set to lock horns with the defending champions, Gujarat Titans (GT) in the Qualifier 1 of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai on Tuesday, May 23. This is the first time in the history of IPL that CSK would be without the services of former India batter, Suresh Raina also known as Mr. IPL, in the 2023 edition of the cash-rich league.

Following their stunning victory over Delhi Capitals on Saturday, the great Suresh Raina of CSK complimented MS Dhoni’s side for moving on to the IPL 2023 playoffs. CSK overcame DC by 77 runs to advance as the second team to the 2023 playoffs. At the Arun Jaitley Stadium, CSK bowlers terrorized Delhi Capitals’ batting in their last league game.

The Delhi Capitals (DC) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) squared off at Arun Jaitley Stadium in what was Delhi’s last IPL 2023 league stage game on May 20, 2023. Since CSK had 15 points from seven victories in 13 games, they needed to win the game to secure their position in the top four. On the other hand, DC was the first club to be ruled out of the IPL playoffs in 2023. Thanks to Shivam Dube’s 22 in 9 and Ravindra Jadeja’s 20* in 7, CSK finished with a huge 223/3 after 20 overs.

In response, DC only had David Warner play a fighting knock at one end, while Prithvi Shaw (5 runs), Phil Salt (3 runs), Rilee Russouw (0 runs), Yash Dhull (13 runs), and Akshar Patel (15 runs) lost their lives while attempting to manage the disciplined CSK bowling. CSK gained 17 points from 14 games and qualified for the IPL 2023 playoffs, as a result of this enormous 77-run victory.
