MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super won the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) and lifted the title for a record fifth time. With this, they equalled the record of Mumbai Indians (MI), who have won five titles as well in the history of IPL so far. Shubman Gill was awarded the Orange Cap, and Mohammad Shami received the Purple Cap in the IPL 2023.
According to a report by Interactive Avenue, Former India skipper, Virat Kohli won the most popular player award as he surpassed his former teammate, Dhoni. He had a total of 7 million social media mentions across IPL 2023, despite his side, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) not able to make it to the playoff of the IPL 2023.

Rinku Singh’s 5 sixes in the last over off Yash Dayal against GT got the highest social media likes.
The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) batter also became the most popular emerging player in the IPL. Naveen-ul-Haq and Gautam Gambhir of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) had an on-field argument with Kohli during his team’s IPL 2023 match against RCB at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.
