‘Bhai itne colour se zindagi thodi na rangeen ho jayegi’ – Fans react as Delhi Capitals is set to wear Rainbow jersey against CSK in IPL 2023
On Saturday, May 20, the Delhi Capitals (DC) will play against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in Delhi, wearing their special rainbow-themed jersey. Since 2020, the team has worn the jersey for one game during each season to honor the diversity of India.
Prior to being auctioned off to generate money for the Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS) in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, the players wore the jersey to begin the second half of their season against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR).
In IPL 2020, the team started this custom against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and in IPL 2021, they wore the shirt against the Mumbai Indians (MI). In an effort to close the season in style, the squad announced on social media that they were wearing the special jersey.
With only five victories in 13 games, the Delhi Capitals have had a terrible season in this year’s cash-rich league. They were the first team to get eliminated from the playoffs. Despite defeating the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in their last fixture, they are currently 10th in the points table.
They were playing differently: Pragyan Ojha
The DC’s batting has been the biggest letdown this season, with just captain David Warner sitting in the top 30 on the Orange Cap list, despite the fact that there have been numerous other areas of worry for the team. The previous two seasons have been huge letdowns for DC as they continue their search of the trophy after three seasons in a row of making to the playoffs.
The Delhi Capitals batters performed freely and expressively against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 17 in Dharamsala, according to former Indian spinner Pragyan Ojha, since the playoff qualifying stakes were eliminated. A game after being eliminated from the playoff race and having trouble with the bat throughout the season, Delhi hammered 213/2 in their 20 overs against PBKS.
“Coach and mentors will be asking where these Delhi Capitals were. The way they batted, the way Prithvi Shaw did it, the way David Warner did, and later when Rilee Roussow did it. I think, from what I see, when the pressure was on, they were playing differently. Now that the pressure is off and they’re not in the race in the tournament, we’ve gotten a chance to see different kind of batting from them.” Ojha was quoted as saying in Jio Cinemas after the PBKS win.
