‘Biryani kha lo bas tum log’ – Fans react as Sunrisers Hyderabad lose to Delhi Capitals by 7 runs in IPL 2023

After losing the last fixture against four-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by seven wickets, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) locked horns against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday, April 24 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, in Hyderabad. The Capitals won the match and Axar Patel was awarded Player of the Match for his brilliant performance.

If we talk about the encounter, DC skipper, David Warner won the toss and elected to bat first. The visitors, while batting first, scored 144 runs with the loss of nine wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest scorer for the side was Manish Pandey, who scored 34 runs off 27 balls with two fours. Star India all-rounder, Axar Patel also scored 34 runs off as many balls which included four boundaries.

Delhi Capitals bowlers lead their side to victory

For SRH, the pick of the bowler was their all-rounder, Washington Sundar, who snapped three wickets in his spell of four overs, where he conceded 28 runs in the spell. Two were grabbed by veteran Indian seamer, Bhuvneshwar Kumar in his spell of four overs where he conceded just 11 runs in his spell. One wicket was bagged by T Natarajan in his spell of three overs where he conceded 21 runs in his spell.

The home side, while chasing a target of 145 runs, was able to score only 137 runs with the loss of six wickets. For the side, opener Mayank Aggarwal played a knock of 49 runs from 39 balls, which included seven fours. Heinrich Klassen scored a quickfire knock of 31 runs off just 19 balls with three fours and a six but that was not enough to take the side to victory.

For DC, the pick of the bowler were Anrich Nortje and Axar, who took two wickets each in their respective spell of four overs where they conceded 33 runs and 21 runs, respectively. One wicket each went to Ishant Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav’s account where they conceded 18 runs and 22 runs respectively in their spells.
