After losing five consecutive matches in the 28th fixture of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Delhi Capitals (DC) locked horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Thursday, April 20. DC won the match by four wickets and India’s veteran pacer Ishant Sharma was awarded the Player of the Match for his brilliant bowling spell. The tech giant, Apple CEO witnessed the game and after the match DC owners gifted him the signed bat to Cook and the photo went viral on social media in no time.

After opening the Apple shop in the nation’s capital, Cook made an unexpected visit to the stadium. Along with Rajeev Shukla, vice-president of the BCCI, Bollywood actress Sonam Kapoor, and dignitaries and officials from the Delhi & District Cricket Association, he was spotted at the stadium. For the launch of the Apple shop there, the CEO of Apple is in India. Cook just opened the first Apple shop in India in the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai.

Batting first, KKR were bowled out for 127 runs in 20 overs. In reply, DC took 19.2 overs and lost 6 wickets to chase 128 runs. The first wicket for KKR was lost off Litton Das, who was caught by Lalit Yadav on Mukesh Kumar’s final delivery of the second over. After an over, KKR suffered another setback when Venkatesh Iyer, who had a century in the last match against the Mumbai Indians, returned to the pavilion on Anrich Nortje’s bowling and Mitchell Marsh pulled off a fantastic catch at slip. A few overs later, with the score at 32, Ishant Sharma bowled out KKR’s skipper Nitish Rana.

However, with frequent wickets falling from one end, the opener Jason Roy scored runs from the other end. After playing solid innings of 43 runs off 39 balls, hitting five fours and a maximum, the England batter got out. At 96, KKR lost all of their wickets. As the visitors were able to reach 120 runs after that, Andre Russell seized control of the batting and continued to bat undefeated on 38 runs off 31 balls. During his innings, the Caribbean hitter hit one four and four sixes. Ishant Sharma, Anrich Nortje, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, and Mukesh Kumar each claimed 2-2 wickets for DC, while Mukesh Kumar claimed one.

In order to give the DC team a strong start in chasing the victory score, captain David Warner and Prithvi Shaw added 38 runs for the first wicket in 4.3 overs. Shaw, though, continued his awful play, and Varun Chakravarthy was able to remove him after he had scored 13 off of 11. Following that, Warner took control of the inning as wickets continued to fall regularly from the other end. The DC captain reached his fourth half-century of the year before being dismissed with 57 runs off 41 balls and 11 boundaries.

Following Warner’s dismissal, DC lost its momentum once more and continued to drop frequent wickets. In the 16th over, Manish Pandey was also out after hitting 21 runs off of 23 to put DC in further danger. Delhi must now score 7 runs in the final six balls. Both sides were on the verge of another last-ball contest until Kulwant Khejroliya’s no-ball turned the tide in DC’s favour. DC pursued the winning target while losing 6 wickets with only four balls remaining. For KKR, Ankul Roy, Varun Chakravarthy, and Nitish Rana each grabbed 2-2 wickets.
