A while back, Pakistan head coach Saqlain Mushtaq made some hilarious comments after his side lost the third T20I against England. During the post-match presser, he said “Day and night, summer and winter, rains.. they are all natural. Just like that, sport is also the same. Win and loss will be there. We need to accept it, and we do. It’s natural, what can we do?” Mushtaq said at the press conference.

“Yes, everyone wants to win. Fans want, you all want, all those who are from Pakistan want us to win. But again, day and night, life and death, it’s all-natural. What we have is intent, rest we can only pray,” he added.

Four games later, the Green Brigade lost the series 4-3 as they lost heavily to the Three Lions. After the game, the home team skipper Babar Azam took a philosophical route after the game. In the post-match presser, he said that winning and losing are part of the game.

This has attracted a lot of memes and trolls since. Meanwhile, talking about the game, the Moeen Ali-led England batted first losing the toss. They made the most of the batting first as they amassed 209/3. For the team, Dawid Malan (78), Ben Duckett (30), and Harry Brook (46) scored substantially. In reply, the Babar Azam-led side could only score 142/8 with Shan Masood scoring 56. With this loss, the home team lost the seven-match series by 4-3.

This has certainly hampered their preparations for the upcoming 20-20 World Cup 2022 in Australia. Before the tournament, the team will play a tri-series in New Zealand with Bangladesh and the home side. The team will be looking to get their winning momentum back ahead of the World Cup.

“It was definitely difficult. With 200 runs on the board, if we lose early wickets, it puts pressure on the other batters. This series was vital for us. We need to improve in the shortest format. I also mentioned at the toss, that we have a good bowling attack. Haris is bowling well, and he is improving everyday. I think entire Pakistan was waiting for this, even we were happy to host England,” Babar said after the match.
