The Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) selection committee has included Naveen-ul-Haq in the ODI World Cup 2023 squad. The committee announced their squad after the deadline for announcing their preliminary squad i.e. September 5. Meanwhile, Haq, who missed out on the selection for the ongoing Asia Cup 2023 has been the biggest story. Apparently, during the IPL 2023, he and former RCB and India skipper Virat Kohli had an altercation.
In the reverse fixture between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants, both players had ugly disagreements. During the game, Amit Mishra had to separate Kohli and Haq. After the game, the former India skipper tried to talk to Naveen but the latter denied. Not to forget, even KL Rahul got involved but nothing fruitful happened. After this, LSG mentor Gautam Gambhir got involved and fought with Kohli (verbally) against the same.
After this, the IPL committee decided to fine the trio. While Kohli and Gambhir were fined 100 percent of the match fees, the Afghan was charged 50 percent. Since then, the fans have been anticipating another shootout between Kohli and Naveen. As the latter was left out of the Asia Cup 2023 squad, they were left disappointed. Also, the Blue Brigade, Afghanistan crashed out of the tournament in the first round, albeit it was a close affair.
Now that Haq is back on the side, the India vs. Afghanistan game on October 11 has suddenly gained the interest of the fans. This game might be a full house, given the rivalry of two players
