‘Bravery to another level’ – Fans salute Hanuma Vihari for batting left-handed despite fractured wrist during Ranji Trophy 2022-23

India and Andhra Pradesh player, Hanuma Vihari fractured his hand in the ongoing Ranji Trophy game against Madhya Pradesh. In the game, the defending champions, Madhya Pradesh won the toss and elected to bowl first. Meanwhile, on the first day of the game, the AP skipper fractured his wrist as MP pacer Avesh Khan bowled a menacing bouncer. As a result, Vihari got injured and left the field.

He came out to bat after the fall of the first wicket in the form of Abhishek Reddy. After the incident, an Andhra team official had told that the right-hander opted for a sling and would come out to bat if required. At this point, he is set to miss out on the game for the next five to six weeks. The former Hyderabad player in the Indian T20 League couldn’t find a place in the Indian team for the upcoming Border Gavaskar Trophy.

“Vihari has opted for a sling for now and is waiting. If the team requires him, he would step out. It’s a proper fracture and he has been advised five-six weeks of rest,” an Andhra team official told.

Meanwhile, coming back to the ongoing AP vs MP game, the Andhra skipper came out to bat after Prithvi Raj Yarra was dismissed. At the time, the scorecard read 353 with the first session of the ongoing Day Two in progress. However, injured Vihari and A Lalith Mohan have put together 26 runs and counting for the last wicket. At the time of writing, the teams are on a Lunch break. Meanwhile, the fans and cricket fraternity are praising Vihari for his sacrifice for the team.
