‘Brothers of Destruction’ – Fans Go Crazy As India Maharajas Defeat World Giants By Six Wickets In Legends League Cricket

On 16 September 2022, the second edition of the Legends League Cricket kicked off with a special match in Eden Gardens, Kolkata. India Maharajas took on World Giants as all former players around the globe came to join that initiative. Speaking of the match, the stage was set for an enthralling battle between these sides as people were expecting to see former cricketers in action after a long time.

Former Indian spinner, Harbhajan Singh was the captain for India Maharajas. On the other hand, Jacques Kallis was the captain of the World Giants. However, the former Protea batter won the toss and they opted to bat first.

India Maharajas won the match by six wickets against World Giants in the Legends League Cricket tournament

For World Giants, Hamilton Masakadza and Kevin O’Brien came out to open the innings. They started well as they scored 50 runs in just 5.3 overs. Former Irish batter smashed 52 runs off 31 balls, including nine fours and one six. Along with him, Ramdin remained not out on 42 runs off 29 balls, including five fours and one six. At the end of 20 overs, World Giants scored 170 runs by losing eight wickets. Pankaj Singh was the star with the ball as he picked up five wickets by conceding 26 runs only. In reply, Virender Sehwag and Parthiv Patel came out to open for the India Maharajas. Sehwag got out early after scoring only four runs off five balls. 

During the chase, Tanmay Srivastava scored 54 runs off 39 balls, including eight fours and a single six. But, it was the show from the Pathan brothers that ensured their team’s victory. Yusuf Pathan scored 50* runs off 35 balls at a strike rate of 142.85. While, Irfan scored 20* runs off nine balls, including three huge sixes. He scored those runs at a strike rate of 222.22. Thus, India Maharajas won the match by six wickets with eight balls to spare. Pankaj Singh won the player of the match award for his brilliant spell with the ball.
