‘Choking in important matches’ – Fans Fume After KL Rahul Goes Early In The Third T20I Against Australia
After equalizing the ongoing three-match T20I series in Nagpur, India locked horns with Australia on 25 September 2022 for the last match. The series decider took place in Hyderabad. Therefore, fans were waiting for an enthralling finish to the series ahead of the 20-20 World Cup.
Speaking of the match, India won the toss. Then, Rohit Sharma asked the Aussies to bat first. For Australia, Cameron Green and skipper Aaron Finch came out to open the inning. However, in this important clash, Australia had a great start. Green started to hit from the first ball of the match only.
KL Rahul scored only one run off four balls against Australia in the third T20I
Cameron Green smashed 52 runs off 21 balls, at a strike rate of 247.61. He hit seven fours and three sixes throughout his inning. But, other batters failed to support him as Australia were struggling during the middle overs. In 14 overs, they scored 117 runs for six wickets. But, Tim David scored his maiden T20I fifty for Australia. He lost his wicket to Harshal Patel after scoring 54 runs off 27 balls. He hit two fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 200. However, Australia managed to score 186 runs for seven wickets in 20 overs.
For India, Axar Patel took three wickets for 33 runs in four overs. In response, KL Rahul and skipper Rohit Sharma came out to open the inning. But, in the first over only, KL Rahul lost his wicket to Daniel Sams. He scored only one run off four balls. Hence, Rahul finished the series with 66 runs in three matches, at an average of 22. Thus, Rahul failed to score big in another inning ahead of the 20-20 World Cup. Fans also become angry after his failure as they shared their views on social media. Some fans also said that KL Rahul has always choked in crucial matches.
