‘Complete dominance of India in Cricket’ – Fans react as India Women Cricket Team beats Malaysia to enter 2023 Asian Games semi-finals

The Indian women cricket team have created history as they have all the fastest ever team score in a T20 innings. The cricket team is currently representing India for the first time in the 19th edition of the Asian Games 2023 in the Women’s cricket event at the Pingfeng Campus Cricket Field in Hangzhou, China.

The Indian team collectively put a high score of 173 runs within just 15 overs of the game against Malaysian women in the first quarter final match of the tournament, on 21 September, Thursday. The first innings of the game began with Indian women, batting first. The opening batters, Shafali Verma and Smriti, Mandhana, fired the innings with a quick 50 run partnership. Shefali and Smriti scored 27 and 67 runs off 16 and 39 deliveries with a strike rate of 168.75 and 171.79, respectively.

Jemimah Rodrigues came to bat at number three and scored 47 Runs off 29 deliveries. Shefali scored 4 fours and 5 sixes while the middle-order batter Jemimah Rodrigues scored 6 fours leading the Indian women cricket team to a score of 173-2.

Indian women vs Malaysia women match abandoned due to rain

After just two balls being bowled in the first over, the match was abandoned. The inexperienced squad of the Malaysian women’s cricket team was saved by the rain as the heavy downpour dismissed the game and the points were shared among the teams, making their Indian women cricket team qualify for the semi-final match of the Asian games, 2023.

The Indian men’s cricket team is also participating in the Asian games 2023 and the score will be led by India’s young opening batsman Ruturaj Gaikwad. The men’s Cricket event will feature 15 teams trying to win the gold medal, the event is scheduled to commence from 27 September, while the bronze and gold final matches will be conducted on 7 October 2023. Just a day before the senior Indian cricket team will meet Australia for the first match of the ODI, World Cup, 2023, and the M Chidambaram Stadium.
