Confirmed! This player to lead Punjab in Indian T20 League 2022

Punjab have finally announced their skipper for the upcoming season of the Indian T20 League. There were a lot of rumors on who will lead the team with their last year skipper KL Rahul joining Lucknow . They had retained opener Mayank Agarwal and left-arm medium pacer Arshdeep Singh ahead last November. In the mega auction conducted this month, they bought the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Jonny Bairstow, etc.
Their were rumors that Shikhar Dhawan might lead the team given his prior leadership experience. However, the co-owner of the Mohali-based team, Mohit Burman hinted that Agarwal might lead the team. With only one month left for the 15th edition, the same has been confirmed.
In an Instagram post, they announced that the India Test opener will lead the team this year. In the video posted by the franchise, the newly appointed skipper said that he is honored to lead the team.
“I am honored and happy to lead to be leading the Punjab Kings in the IPL 2022. Let’s do it this time BUURAAAAAH,” said the right-hander in the video posted by the franchise.

The Men in Red and Gold are placed in the Group B as the tournament format has been changed by the league governing council. The change has been made due to the addition of two teams i.e Lucknow and Gujarat. They have been slotted in with team such as Chennai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Gujarat.
