 BCCI took a massive decision on the restrictions for the India vs South Africa series

The Indian T20 League 2022 has reached its summit clash. After the end of the two-month saga, the Indian team will be hosting South Africa in a five-match T20I series. As per the latest reports, the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has decided that there will be no bio-bubble restrictions for the series. If this turns out to be true this will be the first international series in two years where the COVID restrictions will not be implemented. The decision from the Indian board is on the back of massive improvement in COVID situations within the country.

The BCCI implemented different bio-bubbles for ten franchises and the players were to undergo mandatory three-day quarantine before entering the bio-bubble of their respective teams. The situation was very tough for the players as they have to deal with a lot of mental pressure. Although, despite the restrictions, the COVID scare was seen in the tournament as a few members of the Delhi camp tested positive for the same. But the situation was under control throughout the tournament and it went through successfully with only the final of the cash-rich league being left to be played. The successful hosting of the tournament has encouraged the BCCI to lift the COVID restrictions for the South Africa series as per reports by the Times of India.

Meanwhile, the five-match series against the Proteas will begin on the 9th of June and will be played till the 19th of June. Notably, the Indian team management and the think tank will be seeing the South Africa series as a preparation for the T20 World Cup 2022. The national selectors have selected a squad comprising of Indian T20 League’s star performers under the leadership of KL Rahul for the series.

Players like Hardik Pandya, Kuldeep Yadav, and Dinesh Karthik are making a comeback to the Indian team in the series. On the other hand, new faces like Umran Malik and Arshdeep Singh received their maiden call-ups after impressing in the Indian T20 League 2022.
