Cristiano Ronaldo ‘misses’ Portugal’s practice session ahead of Quarterfinal against Morocco

A few months back, there was a time when Cristiano Ronaldo used to miss training sessions at Manchester United. This was the same time when he was reported to leave the team as he was ‘unhappy’. However, the English club wasn’t willing to let him go and retained him for the 2022-23 season. A few months later, he gave an ‘explosive’ interview to Piers Morgan and ‘tore apart’ the club.
Subsequently, his contract was ‘terminated’ after ‘mutual consent’ between the two parties. Currently, he is a free agent in franchise football. Fast forward to the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022, the 37-year-old is having the same stage of his playing career. After being dropped from the playing XI ahead of the Round of 16 against Switzerland, he is reportedly ‘unhappy’.
He is said to have missed the practice session ahead of Portugal’s quarterfinal against Morocco. In the game against the Swiss, the legendary player was replaced by Goncalo Ramos, who picked a hat trick. The European side won by 6-1. Also, the head coach, Fernando Santos has given an indication that Ronaldo is unhappy with the call. ‘Do you think anyone likes to be on the bench? I don’t think Cristiano would be happy,’ Santos said.

On the other hand, the Round of 16 hero, Ramos was also asked whether Ronaldo will play in the last eight encounter. To which, the former said that all the players on the bench can be used.
‘Ronaldo will definitely (be involved), all the players on the bench can be used, if they are not in the starting line-up they can play later.’
On the other hand, Santos has a difficult situation to face apart from winning the game. It is to persist with the performer, Ramos, or go with the legendary but non-performing, Ronaldo against Morocco.
