 Cristiano Ronaldo to be punished?

Portuguese footballer Cristiano Ronaldo received a huge relief as the US judge dismissed the rape lawsuit against him. A lawsuit was lodged against him by a Nevada woman in 2018. However, she lost her case in a US court and now, she is asked for millions of dollars more than $375,000 in hush money.

She received that amount of money after claiming that the Manchester United forward raped her in Las Vegas in 2009. On Friday (10 June), the US district judge, Jennifer Dorsey ruled out the case in Las Vegas. She said about the way that women used leaked and stolen documents regarding the discussions between Cristiano Ronaldo and his lawyers.

Kathryn Mayorga’s civil lawsuit was filed in 2018

The ruling party said that the documents were in bad faith and simply disqualifying. She said: “I find that the procurement and continued use of these documents was bad faith, and simply disqualifying Stovall will not cure the prejudice to Cristiano Ronaldo because the misappropriated documents and their confidential contents have been woven into the very fabric of [plaintiff Kathryn] Mayorga’s claims,”

It had been also hinted that the case was on the verge of getting over as Stovall failed to send his bid within the deadline for more than $25 million in damages. This bid was considered based on the allegations that Ronaldo and his representatives violated back in 2010.

Kathryn Mayorga’s civil lawsuit was filed in 2018 in a state court. In 2019, it moved to the federal court. Mayorga is known as a former model and teacher who used to live in the Las Vegas area. As per her point of view, she met Ronaldo at a nightclub and went with him and other people to his hotel suite.

There, she was assaulted in the bedroom. Ronaldo was 24 years old and her age was 25 by that time. Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s legal team did not disagree about their meeting and sexual intercourse in 2009. But, they confirmed that it was consensual not rape. Then, Mayorga failed to identify her alleged attacker by name and she also could not say the place where that incident took place. Thus, this investigation was dropped.
