Indian star batter Virat Kohli was one of the pioneers of Indian batting during the Men in Blue’s successful triumph in the 2011 World Cup. Now cut to 2023, when the Indian side is again playing the World Cup in India, so the hype for the upcoming event is loud, and fans want the Rohit Sharma-led side to repeat the successful voyage once again as they did in their home conditions in 2011.

So now as Asian Giants is gearing up for the event, Virat talked about the pressure of playing international cricket for 15 years, he was present at the promotional event in Bengaluru, where the 34-year-old talked about winning the 2011 WC is still his biggest achievement in world cricket.

I understand the emotions of all the senior players (in 2011): Virat Kohli

My career highlight is obviously winning the World Cup in 2011. I was 23 at the time, and I probably didn’t understand the magnitude of it. But now at 34, and has played many World Cups, which we have not been able to win, So, I understand the emotions of all the senior players (in 2011). All the more for Sachin Tendulkar, as it was his last World Cup. He had already played many World Cups by then and to win it in Mumbai, his hometown, was very special for him. I mean, it was stuff from dreams,” Kohli said.

“I remember the amount of pressure there was on all the players when we were travelling, Thankfully, there was no social media back then. It would have been a nightmare, honestly. But through the airports, it was always just one thing — we need to win the Cup. The senior players were always under the pump and had to handle all that pressure. It was just brilliant. And that night (after the WC win) in itself was something magic,” he further added.

As for now Indian team is set to play Asia Cup 2023, and they were present in Bengaluru for a practice camp before the continental championship which is set to begin from August 30, while Indian team will play their opening clash against their arch-rivals Pakistan on September 2 in Sri Lanka.
