David Warner expresses unhappiness with Cricket Australia’s unjust treatment with Justin Langer
Australia opening batter David Warner has ‘batted’ for former Australia head coach Justin Langer. The latter resigned from the job after he was offered a six-month contract in February last year. Langer started coaching the team after his predecessor, Darren Lehmann resigned after the infamous Sandpaper Gate in 2018. From then till early last year, Langer coached his national side, Australia.
Meanwhile, his exit became a controversial event as his former teammates during playing started bashing Cricket Australia. Apparently, they felt that the board was mistreating the former opening batter as he was offered only a six-month extension. Meanwhile, Warner has opened up about Langer’s departure from the job. The former also bashed the board over the matter and said that offering a short-term contract was a ‘kick in the face’.
“He wanted to keep coaching. It was a bit of a kick in the face to offer him a six-month contract,” Warner said in the documentary, The Test Season 2.
Pat Cummins urges fans to move on from Justin Langer’s episode
On the other hand, Australia Test skipper, Pat Cummins has said that the Langer’s exit wasn’t out of the blue. The right-arm pacer added that enough has been spoken over the matter and Justin did a brilliant job with the team in the initial years.
