Prithvi Shaw has been an important part of the Delhi team since his debut in the Indian T20 League. He has often been spoken of highly by experts of the game.

In the Indian T20 League also, he was looking in decent touch. Shaw, who is known for his aggressive batting, maintained a strike rate of 159.88 while scoring 259 runs in the tournament. But in what comes as a big revelation Prithvi Shaw will not be taking any further part in this year’s ITL.

Notably, Prithvi Shaw has not been a part of Delhi’s first eleven for the last three matches. He was admitted to the hospital on Sunday and as a result, missed out on the last few matches. In fact, he posted a picture of himself lying on the hospital bed and stated the reason for his absence.

But what comes in big news is Shaw might not play any more part in the Indian T20 League 2022. During Delhi’s latest outing against Rajasthan, the Head Coach of Delhi, Ricky Ponting said that Shaw has been ruled out of the tournament.

The skipper of the Delhi team, Rishabh Pant also spoke on the same during the post-match conversation. He stated that Shaw has been affected by “typhoid or something” and also said that the team is missing the opener. Notably, Delhi rested the onus of opening the innings on Srikar Bharat in absence of Prithvi Shaw. But Bharat failed to leave an impact on the Delhi innings in absence of their regular opener.

“We miss him but we can’t control that. He has typhoid or something like that is what the doctor told me,”- Pant said during the post-match conversation. Speaking of the match Delhi won the match comprehensively by a margin of eight wickets. Delhi put on a clinical performance dominating their opposition in all departments of the game.

Speaking about the team’s performance, Pant said – “Very close to a perfect game. Always believe there’s room for improvement. When you know, the wicket is going to turn, a little but not much, there’s an opportunity to both bowl first or bat first. In the toss, I said anything around 140-160 would be good for us, and we got 160. Destiny is always on your hands; you can look to give 100 percent. Fielding wise we can be better.”
