Destructive batter joins Rajasthan, available for next game against Chennai
With their win against Lucknow, Rajasthan is knocking at the doors of a spot in the playoffs of the Indian T20 League 2022. With eight wins in 13 matches, Rajasthan occupies the second spot in the points table and is just a step away to ensure their place in the top four.
One of the major factors behind Rajasthan’s successful run has been the powerful finishes their middle-order batter Shimron Hetmyer has provided them. In the 11 matches that he has played in the season so far, Hetmyer has scored 291 runs at an average of 72.75 and strike rate of 166.28. His strike rate of 214.28 in the death overs deserves special mention. Even in the last match that he was a part of, he scored 31 runs from 16 deliveries against Punjab and took his team to victory.
Such an integral part of the Rajasthan batting was missing from the playing eleven in the last couple of matches as he traveled back to his home in Guyana. The batter’s visit to his home was on account of the birth of his first child. But ahead of the game against Chennai, Rajasthan welcomes back their star batter after their win against Lucknow by 24 runs.
The development was confirmed when Hetmyer replied to a hilarious Tweet made from the official Twitter handle of the team. The Tweet from the franchise read- “Gulaabi baalo wale Hettie, laut aao.” To this Hetmyer replied – “Idhar hi hoon”- displaying his sense of humor.
Speaking of Rajasthan’s match against Lucknow, Trent Boult’s all-round show in the match took his team to victory. During the post-match presentation ceremony, Boult said- “Some days are better than others. Nice to get wickets at the top. I have got a simple game with the ball. Good catch from Neesham. The boys did talk about some intensity as this was a crucial game for us.”
“I am surprised that I am talking about my batting in a press conference. We can bring our right attitude and chase a ball. I think this is a tough place to bowl. I am enjoying myself here at a new franchise. A great opportunity,”- Boult added.
