Dinesh Karthik Reveals Two Things Which Ravi Shastri Could Not Tolerate In Indian Team
Dinesh Karthik has become an integral part of the Indian side since his comeback. He had a great Indian T20 League for the Bangalore franchise. That earned him a comeback call to the Indian setup. However, he last played for India before that when Ravi Shastri was the head coach.
Ravi Shastri has been always known for being skeptical about little things while handling the national team. However, during his tenure, India performed well across all three formats. But, they failed to win any major titles. Now, Dinesh Karthik opened up on some intolerable things for him while he was a part of the Indian team management.
“Ravi Shastri would not be very appreciative of that. Shastri knew exactly what he wanted” – Dinesh Karthik
Speaking on Cricbuzz docuseries ‘Summer Stalemate’, Karthik said that Shastri knew exactly what he wanted from the team. Shastri never tolerated somebody who wouldn’t bat at a certain pace he did not like or someone who was doing very differently in the nets and in the match.
Karthik said: “He had a very low tolerance for somebody who wouldn’t bat at a certain pace he did not like or someone who was doing very differently in the nets and in the match, he would go and bat differently. He would not be very appreciative of that. Shastri knew exactly what he wanted from the team, the way in which it was played but his tolerance was very little for failures. He always used to push people to do very well,”
Dinesh Karthik also praised Shahstri for his achievements as a coach for India. He added that Shastri had always pushed players to achieve special things in this game. “I think Shastri the player was somebody who was probably not as talented but fulfilled his talent as a coach. He did much better than what he was expected to do. As a coach, he was a larger-than-life person. He was somebody who pushed players to try and achieve special things,” Dinesh Karthik concluded.
