The upcoming third Test match between India and Australia has been shifted from Dharamsala to Indore due to ‘outfield issues’ at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. The Indian Cricket Board has decided to move the match to Holkar Stadium in Indore. The match was originally scheduled to take place from 1st to 5th March in Dharamsala.

The decision to shift the venue has sparked reactions on social media, with fans highlighting the spin-friendly nature of the Indore wicket. An Australian media outlet also pointed out the success of Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin at the new venue, which prompted a response from Indian commentator and expert, Dinesh Karthik.

The media outlet tweeted, “BREAKING: The third India Test has been moved to a new venue … where Ravichandran Ashwin averages 12.50 with the ball”. Karthik responded, “The admin here clearly is one hell of a worrier Seems to play more mind games with the Australian team than the other way around”.

Jay Shah shares the reason for venue change

Indian Cricket Board Secretary, Jay Shah, explained the reason behind the venue change in a release, stating, “Owing to harsh winter conditions in the region, the outfield lacks sufficient grass density and will need some time to develop fully”. The inclement weather added to the worries of the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA), as the local ground staff did not get enough time to grow a good layer of grass on the patches of the bald outfield.

In conclusion, the shift of the venue for the third Test match between India and Australia from Dharamsala to Indore has caused various reactions and comments from fans and experts. While the BCCI cited harsh winter conditions as the reason for the shift, some see it as a mind game played by the Indian cricket board. Regardless, fans and players alike are eager to see how the match will unfold in Indore.
