‘The umpires have given Ashwin that favour’ – Dinesh Kartik opens up about Ravichandran Ashwin’s return in-between 3rd Test match against England

Ravichandran Ashwin to miss the 3rd Test match

In the 3rd Test match between India and England, Ravichandran has opted out temporarily due to family issues. Moreover, cricketer-turned-commentator Dinesh Kartik opened up about the entire issue and said that Ashwin can join the team anytime he wants to as the umpire has given him the freedom to do so. Moreover, as controversies are surfacing, Kartik has also clarified that this is well under the rules of cricket and there shouldn’t be any criticisms towards this decision.

Kartik said, “Ravi Ashwin can come anytime during this Test Match and bowl straightaway. The umpires have given Ashwin that favour.”

India is way ahead of England in the 3rd Test match in Rajkot. With Yashasvi Jaiswal’s century, India has taken a lead of 298 runs. Although England played well in the first innings, they could only score 319 runs. Ben Duckett scored 153 runs while no other batter supported him from the other end.

‘It’s been quite a long journey’ – Ravichandran Ashwin dedicated his 500 wickets milestone to his father

Ravichandran Ashwin recently entered the 500-wicket club after dismissing Zak Crawley in the 3rd Test match against England. Moreover, after the match, while talking to the commentators, Ashwin revealed that he dedicated the achievement to his father who has been there with him through thick and thin. He also talked about how England played in the match because India’s job has become difficult.

Ashwin said, “It’s been quite a long journey. Firstly I’d like to dedicate this feat to my father. He’s been with me through thick and thin and probably had a heart attack every time he’s watched me play. His health has probably gone for a toss because of that. England are showing a lot of intent, playing like they would in an ODI or T20 game. Given us a lot to think about, we have to keep doing what we’re doing and hope that one goes to hand.”
