India is a place of rich heritage and people worship players when they reach legendary status. But then, a question arises that if only cricketers are given such status and fans doubt it often too. A recent video from Uttar Pradesh, a state in India shows Kabaddi players being served food from the washroom.
The state-level U-17 Kabaddi tournament is ongoing and a video has now emerged out of nowhere. In the video from Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Stadium, Saharanpur, players are seen taking food stored in the washroom. Once the video went viral, ANI reported that the state government has suspended the district sports officer of Saharanpur, Animesh Saxena.
Actions have been taken and the management is facing backlash for the same. Fans are questioning the responsibility of the government and are further opining that only cricketers get all the respect.

Kabaddi players angered by the treatment
However, the Union Sports Minister, Shri Anurag Thakur said that he has sought to take strict action. “I have also directed that the contractor be blacklisted for the future,” the minister said to ANI.
District Magistrate Akhilesh Singh said highlighted the number of players who participated in the tournament and assured of strict actions. He further added that the officers involved will face strict action within a week. While many Kabaddi players expressed their anger on the same, several journalists pointed out the issue and slammed the officials for the same.
“There was a state-level tournament in Saharanpur, which received some negative reporting. The report about the incident is being made. Since it was a huge competition in which a lot of children participated and reports of improper arrangements have surfaced, the matter will be looked into seriously and action will be taken against the official at fault in a week,” district magistrate Akhilesh Singh commented on the ugly incident.
“There was a complaint about providing food in toilets to kabaddi players in Saharanpur. Sports officer has been suspended & inquiry has been ordered,” the sports minister of the state Girish Yadav was quoted as saying.
