Ben Stokes and Moeen Ali, two all-rounders from England, arrived in India Wednesday in preparation for the 16th season of the Indian T20 League (ITL). On social media, the Chennai franchise sent an update reiterating the same. The English couple were welcomed by Chennai stars MS Dhoni and Ravindra Jadeja. Stokes, acquired for 16.25 crore at the ITL mini-auction, has been eagerly anticipated by fans. The southpaw came today and started working out with the rest of the team in Chennai while the franchise teased fans on social media by throwing hints.

Two of the most explosive all-rounders now playing are Stokes and Moeen Ali. Although Moeen has been a part of the team for two years, this will be the first time the England Test skipper plays for Chennai. The all-rounder missed the previous season’s Indian T20 League because of a finger injury. With bat and ball in hand this season, Stokes is prepared to affect Chennai significantly.

Ben Stokes also opened up on his availability for the full ITL season following fitness woes

In addition to his all-around talent, the southpaw will be a leadership team member. However, Stokes’ availability as a bowler for the Indian T20 League 2023 season is slightly in doubt due to his persistent knee problems, which have prevented him from bowling at full strength on numerous occasions. Reports show that if Chennai makes the playoffs and the Ashes begin in June, Stokes won’t play. The southpaw informed head coach Stephan Fleming of the same and said he was fit.

“I’m going to the Indian T20 League. I’ve had conversations with ‘Flem’, and he’s fully aware of the situation with my body. It’s a week-by-week case at the moment. I’m not going to lie; it’s incredibly frustrating knowing something has been holding me back from performing as I’d like to. I’ve been working hard with the physios and the medics trying to get myself to a place where I can fulfil my role as I have done for the last 10 years,” Stokes told Daily Mail.
