Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja has been awarded as the Player of the series for the recently ended Border-Gavaskar trophy along with the spin partner Ravichandran Ashwin. The left hander has taken 22 wickets in four matches including two five-wicket hauls. He was awarded Player of the match for the first two Tests in Nagpur and Delhi respectively.

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh has picked Jadeja to be the X-Factor for the upcoming season of the Indian T20 League. Harbhajan has asked everyone to keep an eye on Jadeja’s performance for the Chennai franchise throughout the tournament.

Harbhajan has also shared a dressing room with Jadeja and he said that he is the best all rounder in the world and will be very successful in the Indian conditions.

“The one person who everyone should keep an eye on is Ravindra Jadeja, especially how he bats for CSK. He may be promoted up the order plus he has his four overs,” Harbhajan said on Star Sports.”

“If you look at it from a world cricket perspective, I don’t think there’s a better all-rounder than him. So I’m looking forward to seeing Ravindra Jadeja in the IPL. The X factor for me will be Ravindra Jadeja because he has been very successful in these conditions as a bowler and a batsman, he’s been playing there for so many years. So for me, he is definitely going to be the X factor for the side,” the former spinner further added.

Jadeja was appointed as Chennai skipper in 2022

Jadeja was also named as the skipper of Chennai in the 2022 Indian T20 League, but he again replaced by MS Dhoni in the middle of the tournament following the series of losses. The four-times champion Chennai finished on the ninth place at the points table in the preceding season.

Harbhajan also picked his foreign players who should start for Chennai in the upcoming tournament.

“Firstly I would select Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali of course, Conway will definitely be in the side and Theekshana, before Pathirana because Theekshana will be more effective in Chennai. But if the match happens in a place like Mumbai, against Mumbai Franchise, then I will select Pathirana because he bowls a lot like Malinga and spin doesn’t play a big factor over there. So if I have to select the four overseas players it would be Conway, Ben Stokes, Moeen Ali and Theekshana,” said Harbhajan.

The 16th season of the Indian T20 League will kickstart from March 31st with an opening match between the defending champions Gujarat and Chennai at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
