‘Ek aur aggressive captain milne waala hai’ – Fans react as reports claim Suryakumar Yadav as new captain of India for T20I series against Australia

Suryakumar Yadav is likely to lead India in the T20I series against Australia, which is set to happen later this month. India is in search of a captain to lead India in the series against South Africa and Australia, which will be taking place after the ODI World Cup 2023. Hardik Pandya, the regular captain of India, has been ruled out of the bilateral series against the two big teams owing to his injury.

The star All-rounder sustained an ankle injury during the game against Bangladesh in the ODI World Cup 2023. In the match, the Indian All-rounder had attempted to stop the ball which travelled towards him. Hardik bowled a ball and received it as a reflex shot from the batter. In an attempt to stop it from going towards the boundary, Hardik twisted his ankle sustaining an injury in the process.

It has not just ruled him out of the ODI World Cup 2023 but is now keeping him out of the T20I series against Australia and South Africa as well. India is likely to rest all the senior players in the team to pick a young squad for the series against Australia. The young performers who shined in the IPL 2023 and the tours following it are likely to be picked in the series.

Suryakumar Yadav, an able contender to lead India

Suryakumar has been one of the best performers in the Indian team in the shortest format of the game. The unorthodox batter has been the best in the format since his debut. The way Yadav has played in the format has been sensational and never seen before. The experienced batter has been aggressive and consistent in doing it.

As a batter, Suryakumar has shined in big tournaments like the T20 World Cup 2022 and against big teams like England, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. The talented batter has done everything which has been asked of him. In the absence of Hardik, Suryakumar might just be the right person to lead India, more so because his style of batting represents T20Is.
