MS Dhoni craze in Chinnaswamy (Source – Twitter)

Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni is one of the most loved cricketers in India. Even after almost three years of his retirement from international cricket, Dhoni’s craze is unmatchable. It is also likely that the 41-year-old will be playing his last season in the ongoing Indian Premier League, and the fans didn’t want to leave any chance to see him in action for one last time.

A similar kind of craze was seen during CSK’s recently ended match with Royal Challengers Bangalore at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 17th. A fan was seen holding a placard that read, “ I sold my bike just to see Thala Dhoni all the way from Goa.” However, Dhoni played only a single delivery and took a single on the second last ball of CSK’s innings.

CSK beat RCB in a high-scoring encounter

Talking about the match, CSK defeated RCB by 8 runs in a high-scoring thriller. Batting first, CSK posted a mammoth total of 226 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Ruturaj Gaikwad got out cheaply in the third over of the innings. After that, Devon Conway and Ajinkya Rahane (37 off 20) added 74 runs for the second wicket.

After Rahane’s dismissal, Conway put up a partnership of 80 runs with Shivam Dube for the third wicket. Conway got out after scoring 83 off 45 with six fours and six sixes, while Dube went on to score 52 runs off 27 balls before getting out in the 17th over smashing two fours and five sixes. After that, Moeen Ali added the finishing touches as CSK crossed 220 runs.

Chasing the winning total, RCB didn’t have a great start as they lost 2 wickets at the score of 15 runs in two overs. After that, skipper Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell took charge of the innings and 126 runs for the third wicket. Maxwell got out after smashing 76 off 36 with three fours and eight sixes. An over later, Du Plessis also lost his wicket and the home team started losing momentum. Dinesh Karthik tried to take RCB down after smashing 28 off 14 before getting out in the 17th over. CSK took full control of the match after that. At last, RCB were restricted at 218 for 8 losing the game by 8 runs.
