‘Ek match main tera ghar jaayenga’ – Jio Cinema to take around 25gb to stream one Indian T20 League match in 4K
The 16th season of the Indian T20 League is all set to begin on March 31, with a match between the defending Champions Gujarat and Chennai franchises at Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. With Star Sports and Viacom being the official broadcasters for TV and OTT respectively, Jio Cinema will also stream the tournament for free in 4K.
Jio Cinema also has streamed Fifa World Cup last year successfully. It will allow the users to switch among different camera angles for all 74 matches. On the JioCinema app on phone, users can also see the statistics like score and pitch heat map.
However, it is reported that watching one full match of the Indian T20 League in 4k will take around 25 GB of data. While watching the match in full HD will cost around 12 GB. The app will also provide various facilities for the viewers like multiple languages, chat with commentators, 360-degree cameras, and quizzes and prizes.
There will an option of 12 languages in JioCinema including English, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali, and Bhojpuri, among others. After switching to another language, the statistics and graphics will also change along with the commentary.
The Reliance is also expected to reveal its Jio Media cable accessory that will allow users with non-smart TVs to watch live matches on their phones. There are also rumors that the company is working on a virtual reality headset named JioDive along with virtual reality glasses called JioGlasses. These devices will allow the users to experience the Indian T20 League in a 360-degree format.
