‘El-Classico loading in IPL 2023 Final’ – Fans react as Mumbai Indians defeat Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs in IPL 2023 Eliminator
After winning the last fixture of the group stage against Kolkata Knight Riders by one run at Eden Gardens, in Kolkata, Lucknow Super Giants locked horns with five-time champions, Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram Stadium, in Chennai on Wednesday, May 24. The Mumbai side won the match by 81 runs and Akash Madhwal was awarded the Player of the Match award for his brilliant match-winning bowling performance for his side.
The MI skipper won the toss and opted to bat first. The Mumbai side, while batting first, scored a total of 182 runs with the loss of eight wickets after the completion of the first innings. The highest scorer for the side was star Australia all-rounder, Cameron Green, who scored 41 runs off 23 balls with six fours and a six in his innings. In the middle, World No. 1 T20I batter, Suryakumar Yadav scored 33 runs from 20 balls which included two fours and two sixes in his innings.

In the end, young Nehal Wadhera scored crucial 23 runs from 12 balls with two fours and two sixes in his innings. For the LSG side, the pick of the bowler was Naveen-Ul-Haq, who snapped four wickets in his spell of four overs where he conceded 38 runs in his spell. Three wickets were grabbed by Yash Thakur who grabbed in his spell of four overs where he conceded 34 runs in his spell.
While chasing a mammoth target of 183 runs, the Super Giants lost seven wickets at a mere score of 92 runs in 12.3 overs. The batters like Kyle Mayers, Prerak Mankad, Ayush Badoni, Deepak Hooda, and Nicholas Pooran struggled to score runs when it matter the most. Marcus Stoinins was the only player to score runs. He scored 40 runs from 27 balls which included five fours and a six in his innings.
The star performer for MI was Akash Madhwal, who bagged five wickets in his spell of 3.3 overs where he conceded just five runs in his spell. One wicket each was taken by Chris Jordan and Piyush Chawla in their respective spells where they conceded seven runs and 28 runs respectively in their spells
