MS Dhoni has been a pillar for his Chennai franchise since the introduction of the Indian T20 League. Under his leadership, Chennai have won four titles so far. However, still, he is playing for the franchise after getting retired from all forms of the game on 15 August 2020.
However, he has always expressed that he will look to play his last ever T20 Match in Chepauk, Chennai. The last season happened only in three stadiums in India which did not include Chennai’s home ground. Now, Sourav Ganguly said that in the next edition, all teams will be able to play home and away matches like the old format.
“So, hopefully, my last T20 will be in Chennai.” – MS Dhoni after winning the Indian T20 League in 2021
As per reports to the Times of India, Sourav Ganguly wrote a letter to the State Boards. In that letter, the former Indian skipper wrote: “The next season of men’s Indian T20 League will also go back to the home and away format with all ten teams playing their home matches at their designated venues.”

The last game I played was in Ranchi. The last home game in ODI was at my hometown in Ranchi. So, hopefully, my last T20 will be in Chennai. Whether it’s next year or in 5 years time, we don’t really know.”
Speaking of his career in this rich-vein tournament, MS Dhoni has played 234 matches. In those games, he has discord 4978 runs so far. However, it will not be easy for Chennai fans if MS Dhoni finally decides to put an end to his journey with Chennai after the next season.
