Captaining a team in the Indian T20 League is a different art altogether. Here, the biggest challenge for a skipper is to lead a team that is with different set of players, as teams go through a transition in the auction. Also, they don’t get enough time to understand the lesser-known players like they do in the national teams.

However, some captains have managed to do so and have become one of the most successful skippers in the cash-rich league. In this listicle, we will discuss the five captains with the most wins in the tournament.

Five captains with most wins

1. MS Dhoni

The former India skipper has led Chennai and now-defunct Pune from 2008 to 2021. He has led these teams in 204 games, which is the highest in the Indian T20 League. Out of them, the right-hander has won 121 games. The Chennai team has also won four titles under him.

2. Virat Kohli

The Delhi-born player has led Bangalore from 2013 to 2021 and briefly in 2011. He has led the team in 140 games winning 64, which the fourth highest. Last year, he decided to step down from the leadership role after the completion of the 14th season. This week, there were rumors that the franchise hasn’t accepted Kohli’s resignation. However, on March 12, the three-time finalists announced that Faf Du Plessis will lead the team in the upcoming season.

3. Rohit Sharma

The newly-appointed India skipper has led the Mumbai team from 2013 and running. Under his captaincy, the team has played 129 games and won 75, which is the second highest. Also not to forget, the team has won five Indian T20 League titles.
