 Five Indian Youngsters To Watch Out In The Indian T20 League 2022

The Indian T20 League has seen emergence of different players since its inception in 2008. Some of them went on to play for the country and other couldn’t make it due to immense competition. Players such as KL Rahul, Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan, Avesh Khan played for India after getting recognition in the cash-rich league. During the ITL mega auction this month, a lot of Indian youngsters were picked by 10 teams.

Some of them have played for India U19 this year or before. Others have been performing immensly in the domestic cricket over the years. In this listcle, we will discuss the five youngsters to watch out in the upcoming season.

Five youngsters to watch this season

  1. Yash Dhull

The 2022 U19 World Cup-winning skipper was picked by Delhi. The Delhi-born played showed his big stage temperament in the recent times. In the semifinal of the World Cup, he scored a match-winning century against Australia as his side had lost two early wickets. In his Ranji Trophy debut this month, he scored two back-to-back hundred while opening the innings. In the presence of David Warner and Prithvi Shaw, he might not get to open but can play in the middle-order.

2. Ruturaj Gaikwad 

The last year’s Orange Cap winner can do wonders this year as well. He has been consistent performer in the ITL and domestic cricket over the years. He was retained by the Chennai franchise last year. This year, with the league game to be played in Maharashtra, he could feel at home as he plays for Maharashtra in domestic cricket.

3. Venkatesh Iyer

Unearthed by Kolkata last year during the second phase, the left-hander is an explosive and fearless opener in T20. He was retained by the franchise last year. He batted against the likes of Jasprit Bumrah, Trent Boult, Adam Milne, Mohammed Siraj, Kyle Jamison, etc with ease and command. The 27-year-old made his debut for India last November and shown that he can bat in the lower middle-order as well. He has also shown his bowling prowess this month against the West Indies and Sri Lanka.
