Five most expensive players of the Mega Auction 2022
The Indian T20 League mega auction saw a lot of players sold to different teams or bought back by their last season’s teams. There were instances where teams bid aggressively for quite a lot of players as they felt they can create a big impact in the upcoming season. Here, we are going to discuss the top five most expensive players bought in the auction.
Ishan Kishan (15.25 crores)
The costliest player this year is wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan. Kishan was released by Mumbai last year. He entered into the auction with a base price of 2 crores. Teams such as Mumbai, Punjab, Gujarat, and Hyderabad fought for the left-hander but he was eventually grabbed Mumbai for a whopping amount of 15.25 crores.
Deepak Chahar (14 crores)
The second costliest player is Deepak Chahar. Like Kishan, he was also released from his team. Chahar entered the auction at a base price of 2 crores. Quite a few teams tussled to get the services of the all-rounder but Chennai came up trumps at 14 crores.
Shreyas Iyer (12.25 crores)
The third costliest player is former Delhi skipper Shreyas Iyer. As a marquee player, he entered into the auctions at a base price of 2 crores. A record number of five teams including, Delhi, Bangalore, Lucknow, Kolkata, Gujarat fought for him but Kolkata managed win the bid at the price of 12.25 crores.
Liam Livingstone (11.5 crores)
Livingstone has been creating a lot of buzz due to his amazing skills. He was on the radar of most teams. Having played for Rajasthan last year, he was expected to get some bids in his favour. However, not many would have expected to go at 11. 5 crores. After an intense bidding war, he was brought by Punjab.
Harshal Patel (Bangalore), Nicholas Pooran (Hyderabad), Wanindu Hasaranga (Bangalore), and Shardul Thakur (Delhi) also earned hefty pay cheques as they were bought at 10.75 crores each.
