Though the choice of entertainment is always with the spectator, cricket’s role in football’s demise cannot be ignored. Since India won the World Cup in 1983, the sport of cricket has seen an upward trend. Winning the World Cup again in 2011 and establishing the second most lucrative sports league in the world (Indian T20 League) has overshadowed not just football but all the other sports as well.
Football, fighting for the same audience came out as the biggest loser of this match-up.
