3. Gautam Gambhir’s exclusion from the 2013 Champions Trophy team
The two-time World Cup-winning hero in 2007 and 2013 was axed from the team. The selectors had already dropped his long-time opening partner, Virender Sehwag from the team early in 2013. They went for Shikhar Dhawan and Murali Vijay for the tournament.
The fans weren’t happy as both players didn’t have impressive ODI records. Also, Gambhir was the hero for the team in the 2007 20-20 World Cup and 2011 ODI World Cup finals.
