 Flight fares to Ahmedabad rise by 415% ahead of IND vs PAK clash in ODI World Cup 2023

The high-voltage ODI World Cup 2023 clash between the archrivals India and Pakistan is scheduled on 14 October 2023 at the Narendra Modi Stadium, (popularly known as Motera Stadium), Ahmedabad. As soon as the schedule of the World Cup was announced by the Indian Cricket Board and the Apex Cricket Council, the fans started to book the flight tickets and look for hotel accommodations even before the board released the tickets for the game. 

As per sources, considering the hotel accommodations, conveyance and attractions available in the city, the hospitality sector in Ahmedabad is expected to witness a huge rise during the four games of the ODI World Cup 2023 in the city. Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad is the world’s biggest stadium with accommodation for over 1 Lakh spectators. 

“Planning a visit to Ahmedabad during the match days will definitely hit your wallet hard. We’ve heard of a few hotels here charging as much as Rs 80,000 per room per night due to the surging demand. With limited flights available, it’s no surprise that airfares are on the rise,” reported the News 18 TV channel.

“People from around the world, including fans, supporters, sponsors, and journalists, are gearing up for what promises to be an electrifying game. Airlines should seriously think about putting more flights into action from October 13-16 to meet this soaring demand, ensuring passengers travelling to and from Ahmedabad benefit,” said the President of the Travel Agents and Tour Operators Association of Gujarat (TAG), Anuj Pathak. 

“Sponsors, cricket fans, and VIPs have already secured their stay with us, and the enthusiasm is reaching a fever pitch. The four matches of the ICC Cricket World Cup being held in the city are expected to bring a substantial boost to the hospitality sector in Ahmedabad, making for a promising start to the third quarter,” said the General Manager of ITC Narmada, Keenan McKenzie.
