Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf faced a lot of heat due to his aggressive celebration after getting out Ishan Kishan. In the Group game between India and Pakistan during the Asia Cup 2023, the Men In Blue won the toss and elected to bat first. Batting first, the eventual champions lost four wickets for 66 runs. At this point, the likes of Kishan and Hardik Pandya put together 138 runs for the fifth wicket.

The partnership was broken as the former took a chance against Rauf that didn’t come off. After the wicket, the latter gave Kishan a send-off. During this, the celebration turned out to be laden with expletives and gestures toward going back to the dressing rooms. The Rohit Sharma-led side recovered from 66/4 and reached 266 all-out. Talking about both teams, Pakistan missed the final spot while India beat Sri Lanka by 10 wickets.

Meanwhile, ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup 2023, the two-time PSL winner had a media interaction. He was asked about his infamous celebration. He said “Why should I go and fight with Indians? It is cricket and not war.”

My fitness is better than before: Haris Rauf

Notably, Rauf sustained an oblique muscle tear during the Super Four game against India. The right-armer didn’t bowl any further and the team lost the game by 228 runs. The Lahore Qalandars player in the PSL was ruled out of the tournament. However, he is named in the WC squad. During the same media interaction, he seemed confident about his fitness.

“Playing in any tournament for your country is a big deal. My fitness is better than before. We have confidence in ourselves as a team. The team management will decide whether to give me the new ball or the old ball. I have no specific goal set for the World Cup. More emphasis is on team performance than individual performance.”
