Rohit Sharma after scoring his tenth Test century in the first Test against the West Indies, is back in the top ten of the men’s Test Batting Rankings. India easily defeated West Indies in the first Test of the two-match series in Dominica, with both Rohit and Jaiswal contributing with their outstanding centuries.

The debutant scored a brilliant 171 runs in his first test match. With a superb innings of 103, the 36-year-old established himself as the highest-ranked Indian batter, surpassing Rishabh Pant who still stands at 11, and Virat Kohli at 14. Meanwhile, Jaiswal is ranked 73rd in the batting rankings. In the first test, the batter went past No.1 ranked Test batter Kane Williamson in terms of most runs in international cricket.

Rohit Sharma leading by example

Rohit accomplished a significant milestone with his 103-run knock. He became the 20th Indian batsman to reach 3,500 runs in the longest format. Rohit Sharma is currently the fifth-highest run-scorer among active cricketers in international cricket. He has 17145 runs with 44 centuries and 91 half-centuries behind his name. He is also the third-highest-ranked Test opener.

Ravichandran Ashwin’s 12-wicket total in the first Test against the West Indies increased his lead at the top of the bowling rankings. On the revised Test bowler rankings, Ashwin improved by 24 rating points to take a 56-point lead over Australia skipper Pat Cummins in second position. Only three Indian bowlers are placed in the top 10. With Ravindra Jadeja who took five wickets against the West Indies, moving him up three spots to seventh overall in the bowling rankings.  Jasprit Bumrah is also occupying the number 10 position with a rating of 764.

Kane Williamson of New Zealand is the number one player with an 883 rating; he is sitting there without playing as though he will not move. Travis Head is ranked second, with an 874 rating. With an 862 rating, Babar Azam has maintained his third-place position. Steve Smith is ranked fourth with an 855 rating, and Marnus Labuschagne is ranked fifth with an 849 rating.
