‘He is right handed brian lara’ – Fans React as Prithvi Shaw scores double hundred in One-Day cup for Northamptonshire

The 23-year-old young batsman Prithvi Shaw recently played one of his career-best knocks of 244 in 153 balls against Somerset in the Royal London One-Day Cup on 9 August 2023, Wednesday. Prithvi registered the highest-ever score in List A cricket by a Northamptonshire player, as his knock was backed by 28 fours and 11 sixes. 

Prithvi Shaw recently got in an exclusive chat with India Today and discussed his knock and the chance to play for the Indian cricket team again. Prithvi played his last match for the Indian cricket team in July 2021. While thanking Northamptonshire for the golden opportunity to play, he talked about not thinking too much about getting a chance to play for the Indian cricket team again, especially in the ODI World Cup 2023. 

Prithvi Shaw on his double century for Northamptonshire

 “Definitely experience for sure. Not really thinking what the Indian selectors may be thinking, but I just want to have a good time here, have a good time with the players over here and the support staff. Northamptonshire have given me this opportunity… they’re really looking after me. I’m really enjoying it,” said Prithvi Shaw 

“The sun was out, it was kind of like Indian weather today so it was really looking good. You know when an inside edge doesn’t get me out, that means this day is for me. You have to be lucky sometimes, so I think this was a day for me. I didn’t look back after that,” added Prithvi Shaw. 

“The 227 was in my head to be honest. I spoke to Whitey [Whiteman] when he was there and I told him it’s 227, my highest score. But it was a good team effort all around. I always try and win matches for the team and I’m the kind of a player who puts my team first and then myself. If scoring like this can help my team to win, then I should continue this,”  concluded Prithvi Shaw.  

Fans gave mixed reactions on pretty sure double hundred Northamptonshire, while a few appreciated him for being back in the game, a majority of netizens ended up trolling him for his poor fitness as a cricketer and premature baldness. A user said, ‘Only in local games not in International games’, another said, “He need to reduce weight to bounce back into the Indian team.. he looks too heavy.” A user said, ‘He has good potential, should be in the Indian team soon’.
