‘He is taking the game on’ – Pat Cummins hopes David Warner does well for Australia in ODI World Cup 2023
The Australian skipper and fast bowler all-rounder Pat Cummins recently analyzed David Warner’s role in the Australian team as the opening batter and his recent performances in Australia’s tour of India.
India and Australia met for a three-match mini ODI series ahead of the ODI World Cup as both the teams will commence their World Cup campaign against each other on Sunday, 8 October at the M Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
Pat Cummins believes David Warner who has had a fantastic run recently in ODI cricket against India and South Africa, will make it huge in the ODI World Cup considering his aggressive batting style. Cummins also talked about Australia’s past performance record in India and believes that the team will perform well in the world’s biggest cricket tournament.
Pat Cummins on David Warner’s recent performances for Australia in ODIs
“Dave’s been fantastic in the last month, particularly in white-ball cricket. Not only is he scoring runs, he is being aggressive. He is taking the game on and getting the innings off to a good start. So, I’m expecting a great tournament from Dave. He has been consistent, and I am loving the way he is going about it,” said Pat Cummins while talking about David Warner’s performance for Australia in recent months.
“Our preparation starts with training for the next few days before the game. The Australian guys play a lot of spin. Our batting order had played a lot in India and done well, so they know most of the (Indian) bowlers and they have a plan in place,” he added.
“We are really confident. We had a good win in the third ODI (in Rajkot), which is probably a bit closest to our strongest XI. We have had pretty good records in ODIs in India,” said Pat Cummins.
Australia’s Playing XI in the 3rd ODI against India: Mitchell Marsh, David Warner, Steven Smith, Marnus Labuschagne, Alex Carey(w), Glenn Maxwell, Cameron Green, Pat Cummins (c), Mitchell Starc, Tanveer Sangha, Josh Hazlewood
