‘He should be more embarrassed about his coaching stint’ – Fans roast Rahul Dravid for his ‘I shouldn’t have been smashing the glass in advert’ statement
Fans might remember former India skipper Rahul Dravid‘s advertisement during the COVID-19 pandemic that went viral on social media. In the advert, he was frustrated with the constant traffic jams in Bengaluru, a consistent feature of the city. Dravid got so irritated that even the slightest provocation and he turned into a hellion. As it turned out, the right-hander started shouting and smashing doors and side mirrors of other people’s vehicles.
A year later, he was made the head coach of the India senior team, replacing Ravi Shastri. Before this, the latter was working as the NCA head and the U19 coach. The team won the 2018 U19 WC and played in the finals in 2016 and 2020. Currently, he has been feeling the heat of the fans as the team’s performances in World events haven’t been good. One can relate his current situation with the time when he led India.
At that time, senior players and the then-head coach, Greg Chappell didn’t get along. It resulted in the team’s first-round exit in the 2007 ODI World Cup in the Caribbean Islands. Meanwhile, during an interview, Dravid spoke about the advert. He said that isn’t convinced about his ‘scripted’ behavior in the advert.
‘It has been positive for everyone except my mother but mother is still not convinced about it. In my opinion, they still feel that I should not have broken the glass of the car.
It’s probably one of the most embarrassing things I have done: Rahul Dravid
The former India skipper added that this was the most embarrassing thing he has ever done in his life.
‘It’s probably one of the most embarrassing things I’ve ever done – standing in front of the streets of Mumbai. Even though it is an ad shoot, but you know there are people around you who are ‘semi actors’ or someone else. Despite this, it was really shameful for a person like me to stand in the middle of the road and shout.
This is how Twitter reacted

Dravid's mother might be correct. But she should also remind her about smashing age fraud cricket which is unfinished task. Unfortunately age fraud is flourishing.
Dravid is one of the very best Indian not just one of the best cricketers ever.— Dr Dinesh Sharma (@dineshsharma108) July 11, 2023
The most embarrassing thing you have done is increasing politics in Indian cricket you fraud.

No losing SA series from 1-0 down was the most embarrassing thing obviously after not qualifying in 2007 wc.
