‘He Will Answer you…” Chennai Super Kings CEO non-committal on MS Dhoni’s playing future
Chennai Super Kings and MS Dhoni are the most loved franchise and skipper in the history of the IPL. The men in yellow won their fifth title this year and it was widely thought this will be MSD’s final season.
At the end of the final game the former India skipper confirmed his participation for IPL 2024 season. Now the speculation is rife surrounding the IPL 2025 season. There are many fans and members in the media who want to know if MSD will play one more season.
Kasi Viswanathan who is the Chennai Super Kings CEO hasn’t revealed anything. On the sidelines of an event called the Junior Super Kings, the decision maker of CSK was tight-lipped.
Kasi Viswanathan declines to comment on MS Dhoni’s future –
Fans have been wondering if MS Dhoni will play in the IPL 2025. It is believed that 2024 will be the last fans will see the iconic number seven on the cricket field. While there are constant speculations, CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan has decided to stay mum.
“That I do not know. See, as far as the captain is concerned, he will answer you directly. He does not tell us what he is going to do,” This statement has raised more curiosity amongst the fans about Dhoni’s future in cricket.
Next year the former India skipper will turn 43 years old and it will be unlikely that Dhoni will continue to play. During the 2023 season, the CSK skipper played with an injury that was seen during the season.
Kasi Viswanathan also spoke about MS Dhoni’s fitness when he said “He is doing well now. He has started his rehab. He started working in the gym. And, probably in another 10 days, he’ll start working in the nets also,”
Chennai Super Kings spent big this year when they brought Daryl Mitchell and Rachin Ravindra during the Auction. The two Kiwis will join Devon Conway and Mitchell Santner to play under their former icon Stephen Fleming.
During the conversation, it also came to light that the IPL 2024 season is set to begin on 22nd March. The CSK CEO said that the team is set to start their training from the 1st week of March.
