Suresh Raina is known as a pillar in the Chennai franchise’s success throughout all these years in the Indian T20 League. Along with MS Dhoni, he has been a great part of this franchise’s history so far. However, things did not go well in the last edition as they did not buy or retain him. Fans were in shock also by not seeing this veteran batter in the squad.
Meanwhile, since then, there were several reports of a rumoured rift between the franchise and Raina. But, nothing official has been confirmed about that. However, a few days back, Raina shared a video on his social media platform. In that video, Raina was playing while donning the Chennai ki. It made happy Chennai fans with the hope to see him in action again in the next season of the Indian T20 League.

Even, the franchise also shared a video where Raina was seen playing cricket with his son Rio. But, in a recent interview with Dainik Jagran, Raina shared that he might be looking to play in other leagues around the globe. He said: ”I wish to play cricket for around 2-3 years more. A lot of good players are there in the Uttar Pradesh (UP) domestic team now and doing really well. I have obtained NOC from UPCA as well. I have even informed the Indian Cricket Board secretaries Jay Shah and Rajiv Shukla about my decision.
Raina also added: “I want to thank the Indian Cricket Board and UPCA for supporting me in my career. I am looking forward to playing in different leagues around the world. I will feature in the Road Safety world series which starts on 10th September. Franchises from South Africa, Sri Lanka, and UAE have approached me till now. Once the situation gets cleared, I will inform everyone myself.”
But, on 6 September 2022, he officially confirmed his retirement from all formats of the game. In a post on Twitter, he wrote: “It has been an absolute honour to represent my country & state UP. I would like to announce my retirement from all formats of Cricket.
