‘I haven’t performed the way I wanted to’: Mohammed Siraj on his performance in the Indian T20 League 2022
Bangalore’s journey in the Indian T20 League 2022 has been rocky, to say the least. They have looked excellent in some matches while in others they have been completely outplayed by the opposition.
But a notable improvement in Bangalore’s performance has been in their bowling. The bowling unit of the Men in Red has looked much better than in the previous seasons. However, a major cog in Bangalore’s bowling, Mohammed Siraj has disappointed with the ball in hand thus far in the tournament.
Siraj has just picked up eight wickets from 11 matches in the Indian T20 League 2022. He has also been expensive conceding runs at an economy of 9.47. The Bangalore-based franchise retained Siraj for a price of INR 7 Cr, hoping that he translates his excellent performance in the international arena to the tournament.
Ahead of their latest outing against Chennai, Siraj spoke about his performance during a conversation with Star Sports. “I haven’t performed the way I wanted to. What the team wants from Siraj. I haven’t been able to do that so far. I am focusing my preparation on my role which is to set the tone for the team. That’s my plan,”- he said.
“My role is to deliver in the power play and at the death. I think my consistency hasn’t been up to the mark. I’ll try my best to bowl at one spot in the power play. Even if I get hit for runs with the batter hitting a good shot then also it’s not a big deal he’s here to play as well. But I will try and bowl consistently on spot,”- Siraj added.
Speaking of Bangalore’s match against Chennai, the Men in Red won the match by 13 runs. But Siraj found it hard to find his rhythm in the match. He bowled just two overs in the match and concede 22 runs in the over without getting a wicket.
