‘I think that’s when you do your best learning’ – Joe Root praises England team for maintaining good environment

Joe Root, one of England’s best batters of all time, hasn’t been very effective in the ongoing series against India. In four innings, he has scored 29, 2, 5, and 16. However, as per him, their dressing room atmosphere is really good and they don’t discuss game-related things in the dressing room. He supports this decision of not having frequent meetings and time away from cricket shouldn’t involve conversations related to that.

Root said, “We don’t really do team meetings anymore. That’s one of the great things about how we do all of our conversations away from the game and just that enjoyment and buzz about spending time with each other. We don’t have to sit in a meeting room and I think it’s more authentic and more genuine when you can have it around a dinner table. Having a coffee in the morning or whatever, I think that’s when you do your best learning.” Root was quoted as saying by Crictracker.

England won the 1st Test against India, however, failed to win the 2nd one due to a lack of batting. So far, Ollie Pope has been one of the consistent batters for England in the series. It was because of his efforts that England won the 1st Test match in Hyderabad. After India’s win in the 2nd Test match, now the series is levelled, 1-1.

Joe Root has always been a fan of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. Before the 2nd Test match against India, while talking on JioCinema, Root praised the Kohli-Rohit duo’s batting and their contribution to the Indian team. The whole world is aware of the ability the two batters have to win matches for their teams.

“You mentioned two of the greats of the modern era. Of course, there’s going to be focus. We know how good they are and they are also very senior within this current Indian batting lineup. They’ve got the ability to get big scores and we’ve been on the wrong end of that a few times, so it would be nice to try and keep them as quiet as we can throughout the series,” said Root.
