Indian Cricket Board announce a change in the timings of the Indian T20 League 2022 final

In what has come as a big development, the final of the Indian T20 League 2022 is scheduled to start at 8:00 pm. For the unversed, the final match of the tournament is scheduled to be played at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Interestingly, the Indian Cricket Board informed the broadcasters that they would want all the games to start at 8:00 pm from next edition onwards. As per recent reports, the final of the 2022 edition is also slated to start at 8:00 pm.
It has been learnt that the Indian Cricket Board has planned to organize a closing ceremony on the day of the final. The event will run for 50 minutes and is scheduled to start at 6:30 pm. The toss of the Indian T20 League 2022 will take place at 7:30 pm.
In the first decade of the Indian T20 League, the matches used to start at 8:00 pm. The opening and closing ceremonies involving Bollywood stars were regular features during that time. However, all of that came to a close, following the appointment of the Committee of Administrators. The COA discontinued that feature for three years.
This year too, no opening ceremony was held on 26th March 2022. However, the Indian Cricket Board are in talks of planning to organize a closing ceremony. The decision was taken at the Apex Council meeting held, later during the tournament.
Meanwhile, the 15th edition of the Indian T20 League has reached the business end of the competition. The league stage matches will end on 22nd May 2022, Sunday. Gujarat and Lucknow have reached the playoffs.
Gujarat are currently sitting at the top of the points table with 10 wins in 13 matches. Lucknow secured a spot after beating Kolkata by 2 runs on Wednesday. They have 9 wins in 14 matches. The four playoff matches are slated to be played in Kolkata and Ahmedabad. Kolkata will host the Qualifier1 and the Eliminator match in 24th and 25th May 2022.
